Breakfast is the most important meal of the day - can we all agree to that? I won’t bore you with what the experts have to say about it (you can always read my previous blog post on why you ought to eat your breakfast) but, for the purpose of today’s post, I will only say one word: energy. After several hours of fasting, both our body and mind require energy and nutrients to start the day with the right foot.
Where can we get this energy from? Here, really, the sky's the limit! We’ve already talked about a few great healthy options for your breakfast, but since it’s almost May and I’m ready to finally enjoy warmer days (I’m sure you are too), I’ve decided to explore the wonderful and delicious world of smoothies.
I’ve selected 5 smoothie recipes that you can easily prepare in the morning before heading out or even the night before. These smoothies are packed with all the nutrients you need to kick start your day, like antioxidants, protein, vitamins, and much more. Drinking a large glass of smoothie will boost your energy, help you focus and, why not, put a smile on your face.
All you need to do is add all ingredients into a blender:
> Delicious green
> Avocado and blueberry
You can add almost any ingredient (veggie, fruits, nuts, yogurt, juice,...) to make a fantastic smoothie, so pick what’s in season. And why not add one or two tablespoons of grounded flax seeds or hemp seeds; the first helps with constipation and the latter is a fantastic source of protein. If possible, I recommend using a base (80%) of vegetables (kale, spinach, chard,...) and add your preferred fruit (20%) afterward as fruit contains a high amount of sugar.
Be creative but always be mindful of amounts and don't forget to balance your nutrients.
